About Us

Storytime Books was conceived during the Covid-19 pandemic when the founder (Liz Asborno) was copyediting a book that cited a 2001 study reporting that there are “approximately thirteen books per child in middle-income neighborhoods, compared to one book for every three hundred low-income children” (Sophie Brickman, Baby, Unplugged).

Shocked and saddened by this disparity, Liz thought, How hard can it be to collect children’s books from families who don’t need them anymore to give to families who do need them? And so, with a lot of help from her friends, Liz started this non-profit enterprise.

We have collected and given away thousands of books since then. Our annual report of activities can be found here, and our board meeting minutes can be found here.
